Product Description

The All Seasons Indoor Composter is a unique indoor product used to recycle kitchen waste into an organic compost soil conditioner. The most effective method of fermenting is through anaerobic (without oxygen) fermentation. This process prepares the scraps for burial in less than half the time of conventional composting methods without any unpleasant odors. Used in conjunction with All Seasons Bokashi (sold separately), the system provides the ideal conditions to activate anaerobic fermentation that accelerates the composting process, while eliminating odors and deterring flies. The All Seasons Indoor Composter includes two unique features, the strainer and spigot, allowing the moisture released by the scraps of food waste to be drained out to prevent spoilage. This concentrated liquid, a nutrient-rich -inch tea-inch can be used as a fertilizer for plants or to clean your kitchen and bathroom drains once diluted. The All Seasons Indoor Composter is easy-to-use composting bin made for collecting food wastes all year long and can be easily implemented in an indoor environment making it useful for apartment, school, household, restaurant, business or wilderness use.

  • Made from recycled plastic soda bottles - 75-percent; Virgin plastic - 25-percent
  • Volume capacity: 5 US-gallons - .67-cubic feet - 640-fluid ounce
  • Air tight lid for faster fermentation and decomposing
  • Strainer allows for moisture released by the scraps of food waste to be drained out preventing spoilage
  • Spigot allows for easy removal of liquid -inch compost tea-inch to be used for plant fertilizer or household drain maintenance

Opinions on this product are going to vary by the person so take my review FWIW. First, a set of pros and cons:

Pros:

- It does digest and compost food as it says.

- The compost isn't complete until you get it outside to finish, but it finishes quickly and provides fantastic compost.

- The bucket/fixture is pretty unobtrusive and looks good.

- It holds more than you'd think, primarily due to the fermenting/pickling reducing the size of items.

- It produces a liquid fertilizer that is great for houseplants.

Cons:

- It does smell when you open it (although the smell goes away quickly when you're done and close it).

- It is kind of a pain to "batch" piles of compost -- the process is a little cumbersome to do every day, and results in a small collecting pile of deteriorating food items in between batches.

- It does require finishing outside, preferably in a compost... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars It does work, October 8, 2008

I've gone through a few loads of bokashi fermented food in this unit. I also made my own out of some 3 gallon buckets. The happy farmer unit has never rotted the food. Yes there is an odor, but it is not rotten- my homemade bucket at one point was not airtight and it rotted food- there is a very big difference. The smell is a pickled smell, and I suppose it is stinky but honestly its not too bad. We use ours inside only. One tip is to put a plastic bag inside on top of the food and push it down so it eliminatess any air. The fermenting process is anaerobic so any oxygen in there just slows things down.

It isn't effortless, yes you have to sprinkle the powder on every time you use it, and every once in a while you have to drain it out- this isn't tough, and for me it helps to remind me to water the plants since it works as good fertilizer. This bucket isn't perfect, but it beats the heck out a homemade bucket and lid because those are so hard to open.

Bokashi is... Read more

More work than I thought it was going to be, and it doesn't really MAKE compost, it just gets it started, then you're supposed to bury the pickled food scraps in dirt in order for it to really break down. The return policies include restocking fee, so make sure you really want to buy this.

This review is from: Uncle Jim's Worm Farm 1,000 Count Red Wiggler Live Composting Worms (Lawn & Patio)
UPDATE: We've had our red wigglers now for about a year in one of our raised bed gardens and they're still thriving. The soil in that bed is ready to be moved to other beds for vegetable growing. It is so rich and light and in 500% better than what we started with. The worms aren't exactly talking to us, but they sure seem like our choice of organic matter we discard into their home.

My wife and I USED to be very organic... we ground our own flour and made our own whole grain bread. We made yogurt, sourdough culture, dried our own fruit, used honey in excessive quantities. But as we grew older, we got less and less organic and more convenience-oriented. We're not eating white bread and cheetos, but we haven't ground flour in a few years. This past summer, we wanted to grow some vegetables in our raised vegetable beds on our back property. The soil was pretty compacted - lots of clay here in northern California... so we looked into composting.

We ran across the... Read more

This seller is amazing. I ordered the worms and they came pretty much instantly. The seller warned of them possibly being stressed or dehydrated upon arrival but the worms were happy and healthy and numerous in quantity. I am so happy and was not expecting such a great find on Amazon. The shipping is SO cheap, it blows my mind.

Product Description

Composting with worms allows you to turn kitchen scraps, paper waste and cardboard into nutrient-rich soil for your plants. The Worm Factory 360 composting system makes the entire process quick and easy. With a thermo siphon air flow design, the Worm Factory 360 increases the composting speed. Now you can produce compost much faster than traditional composting methods. Master Gardeners agree, worm castings are one of the richest forms of fertilizer that you can use. The Worm Factory 360 can be used indoors or outdoors allowing year round production. Now composting is no longer limited to backyards. The Worm Factory 360 is odorless making it great for apartments, kitchens, garages, porches and more. Simply add a handful of worms and your organic waste to the bottom tray. The worms will start processing the food. Once the bottom tray is filled add another tray. The worms migrate upward to the newest food source leaving the bottom tray full of nutrient-rich compost. As waste is broken down, moisture filters through the system, taking nutrient-rich particles with it. This makes it possible to harvest organic liquid fertilizer right from the spigot. 20 year warranty.

  • The Worm Factory 360 has a standard 4-Tray size which is expandable up to 8 trays, giving it the largest volume of any home composter.
  • The redesigned lid converts to a handy stand for trays while harvesting the compost.
  • Included instructional DVD with step-by-step guide for managing your Worm Factory 360.
  • The accessory kit provides basic tools to make managing the Worm Factory 360 easier.
  • Built in "worm tea" collector tray and spigot for easy draining.

(As the process continues, the review will update.)

Hi, I'm Michelle, and I have worms.

A few weeks ago I made the decision to give vermicomposting a try. I live in an area that supports recycling, but we still have to take the items there. The rest of the trash costs us per weight, and ends up decomposing in a way that is not healthy. Why not reduce the trips to recycling, the money spent having someone else take away the rest of it, and end up with healthy compost for our plants? Hey, when it's January and you live in one of the coldest states, you start thinking about gardening so that you don't go all Jack Torrance.

I read a lot on the topic, including a lot of advice on making my own bin. However, DIY bins almost always involved work in getting your slimy friends to go to The Other Side of The Bin. I decided to make the investment and buy a stackable unit, because they're made and used in a way that the worms migrate up and leave the finished... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great! The worms are eating my kitchen scraps., December 28, 2009

This review is from: Worm Factory 360 WF360B Worm Composter, Black (Lawn & Patio)
It's been about a month and my worms seem happy and contented in their bedding. I started with one tray, then gradually added 2 more. They are moving up and down the trays, getting into the food scraps at each level. I shred old newspapers, dip them in rainwater, squeeze out to "damp-sponge wetness", then spread it around the tray. A good percentage of the worms like to hang out in the newsprint and eat that.

The kit comes with everything you need except the worms. It's very easy to set up with the included instruction manual. The included hand rake is handy to mix vegetable and fruit scraps in with the moist paper. Kit also includes a coir brick (which you moisten and spread for their initial bedding), scraper, and thermometer. It's been unseasonably cold in Louisiana, so, like a new parent, I covered the kit with a blanket to insulate the worms. The box has since been moved from porch to patio where it catches the morning sun. The worms seem to be fine with the... Read more

Bagger V (Bradenton, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Worm Factory 360 WF360B Worm Composter, Black (Lawn & Patio)
I was nervous about composting with worms, but have been amazed at how little time it takes. I've had the Worm Factory 360 for about 3 months now and haven't had any problem with bad smells. I have it on my very small screened in porch (lanai as we call it in Florida) and no one even notices it. I started with 1 lb of worms but might recommend 2 lbs if you have lots of food waste. I suppose I have an average amount for a two-person household and after three months, there are almost enough worms to keep up with our waste. I generally feed the worms once or twice a week and sometimes turn on the hose nozzle to the Mist setting to add moisture. I would guess that I spend 10 - 15 minutes per week. Of course the initial set-up took a bit longer and harvesting the castings from the bottom tray will also take a little more time.
