This review is from: Fiskars 9413 30-Gallon Hard Shell Base Kangaroo Gardening Container (Lawn & Patio) Though very utilitarian, this is one of the best ideas in yard cleanup items I've come across. It's light and manuverable. The bottom handle for easy tipping demonstrates the thoughtfulness of the design. And of course, the space it saves when collapsed for storage is just the icing on the cake. 14 of 14 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Fiskars 9413 30-Gallon Hard Shell Base Kangaroo Gardening Container (Lawn & Patio) We camp quite often and anyone who owns a motorhome knows that space limited. I bought 3 of these containers and I am SO glad that I did. I have looked a long time for ones that are big enough to fit my needs and these are better than expected. When open, they are just over 2 ft. tall and 22" wide. I use one in our motorhome bedroom for a hamper (there are 4 of us) and the other 2 are for outside garbage cans. These containers fit a large 33 gallon garbage bag (we use the Kirkland brand black drawstring bags from Costco) and they fit the bags perfectly. Just a tad snug, but not stretched. The hard plastic bottom is wonderful. It extends up the sides about 2", so no worries of rips or tears from rocks, brush etc. They fold down simply to about 4" thick. We have had ours for about a year now and they are in great condition. Rinse with a hose and air dry. I love these and highly recommend. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful By This review is from: Fiskars 9413 30-Gallon Hard Shell Base Kangaroo Gardening Container (Lawn & Patio) I have found this item to be extremely useful and convenient, especially when we have to empty out the lawn mower bag after cutting the grass.G. The Achla Spinning Horizontal Composter lets you steer those table scraps and garden waste away from the local landfill and put it to work feeding the microorganisms in your garden. Inside ridges help break up big clumps. The composter is made from 100-percent recycled plastic and resists pesky rodents. A sliding door provides easy access. The compster holds 7 cubic feet and rests on an included stand. It measures 33 x 39 x 36 inches and weighs 36 pounds.

This review is from: Achla Designs CMP-05 Spinning Composter Horizontal (Lawn & Patio) This is my first compost tumbler purchase and so far it is working very well. I used to have a "bin" of sorts in the far corner of our yard but having to turn it with a pitchfork regularly and putting up with the critter raids in the night got to be too much of a hassle. Not only does this model not take up much space in the yard but you get a good upper body workout turning it everyday. I have only had mine for a couple of weeks and I am already starting to see results. Unlike the reviewer who put shrimp and fish heads in it, I read ALL the instructions including the section titled, "What NOT to put in your composter". I also did some reading on the subject, a great book called, "Let it Rot!" by Stu Campbell. It is very simple to understand and learn how the 'chemistry' of composting really works. This saved me alot of time and disappointing mistakes before getting it right. My first load consists mostly of garden waste, ie: dead annual flowers and green foliage including chunks of... This review is from: Achla Designs CMP-05 Spinning Composter Horizontal (Lawn & Patio) I bought a composting bin a number of years ago, completely oblivious to what is involved in composting. Toss stuff in and it "magically" turns to compost. Wrong! Compost has to be turned, I later learned. So the bin was emptied and has been sitting in my backyard for quite some time as it does not facilitate easily turning the compost (or turning it at all for that matter). I came across turning, tumbling, and spinning composters and selected this one. I transferred the stuff I had been tossing in a trash can (in hopes of the "magic" happening) into this composter. Wow! One week later, and it looks and smells wonderful! It still has a ways to go, and I still have more learning to do on the subject, but this composter has made the job very easy--almost not a "job" at all! I will more than likely continue composting for years to come because this composter makes it so simple and clean. 56 of 56 people found the following review helpful By This review is from: Achla Designs CMP-05 Spinning Composter Horizontal (Lawn & Patio) I'm a beginner composter from a generation of gardeners. I discussed with experts on what type to get for lawn clippings, kitchen waste, and leaves. Spins with a little difficulty because of weight, but creates steaming hot compost quickly.Set up took 2 minutes, simply connect the 6 pieces of metal pipes together, insert screw, no tools necessary. Did it myself, 5'7' 115 lb female. Really great, I shopped everywhere. Only concern or other people is that it's a 6 or 7 cubic capacity, people may need more space.. also, does not have a handle for spinning -- but it would be too heavy to use it. Well designed and thought out. |
The Sun-Mar 200 is a continuous composter with a 6 bushel (50 gallon) capacity. It is excellent for composting kitchen scraps and a few cut up garden trimmings. Compost discharges automatically. No waiting for batches to finish. Pest resistant. Easy to load and turn. Sun-Mar composters go a step further by incorporating the Sun-Mar patented double drum Autoflow design. In the Autoflow design, material goes in the top and compost exits automatically out the end as the drum rotates.

(And even called SunMar customer support, though they seemed to not understand what the problem was and recommended water and turning it more, which didn't solve the problem.) The problem is that the English instructions are very misleading and do not describe how the composter actually works, or how best to care for it in order to maxamize compost production. On a blog I learned a bit more about how the composter is supposed to work. Misconceptions: ---------------------- From the promo material online and in the directions I thought that when items were deposited into the inner drum they should be compost (at least that's what the... This review is from: Sun-Mar 200 50-Gallon Rotating Compost Bin (Lawn & Patio) I love the fact that this is a low profile compost bin. I wanted a rotating bin and it's just the height of our air conditioner. So they are both in a spot where landscaping can mask them. The barrel is very solid as are the supports. However, in my first 6 months of use, I'm finding one issue. As the bin fills up with the '50' gallons of food scraps and water, it becomes very heavy. The sliding door covering the opening is very poorly designed. The basis of the bin is to rotate frequently; however, the door keeps popping off as the weight of the contents hits it as it is rotating around. I have to hold the door on so I can't make a complete revolution. I'm surprised the other reviewers didn't mention this.I'm still holding out hope that this will produce compost as I also have yet to see any, but I'll blame that on me being a composting rookie. I suppose I'll just have to rig up a strap to hold the thing on. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful By This review is from: Sun-Mar 200 50-Gallon Rotating Compost Bin (Lawn & Patio) I purchased this product a few years ago with great hopes and much treasure. My experience was the unit didn't breathe well and instead of composting, product simply rotted inside. It is hard to remove compost from the unit, despite the center tube. Finally, after a couple of years of disappointment, the stand bowed and wouldn't hold the rotating composter. |
