I didn't know I needed this until I opened the gift box and saw it. Clever little box keeps the odors in check. Even the pulp from juicing, which normally starts to ferment in hours, stays pretty much odorless in this compost collector.The box looks rather nice, for what it is, but it isn't something I want to keep on the counter so it resides under the kitchen sink. It's not very large, not much bigger than my toaster, but deeper. I empty it every other day - depending on what I'm cooking it may take three days to fill up. Very nice product, smart design, sturdy. Highly recommended. TIP: Chickens will lay eggs with beautiful and nutricious dark yolks throughout the winter, when grass and insects are not available to them, if fed vegetable and fruit peelings. At present I'm using 2 bags/week--I haven't established how full I can fill them or how long they last full of compost material. They are made in the USA from corn which is probably why they have a very slight odor.The free sample compostable bags that came w/this composter, I would not recommend, they tore just from unrolling them & more so when I attempted to separate them to use.
